Time Trials
Time trials are races in which individual riders (or sometimes small teams of riders) set off at fixed intervals to try to complete a set course in the shortest possible time. They take place on public roads.Almost all time trials are organised under the rules of Cycling Time Trials (CTT). Details can be found on their website. CTT is divided into a number of District Councils. More information on local events can be found on the websites of the South and West District Councils.
Time trials can be divided into club and open events. Club events are low-key, and only open to club members and their guest, usually members of other local clubs. Usually you can enter "on-the-line" for a small fee. Open events are far more formal. Entry is in advance, with marshalls and waymarking on the route, and changing facilities and catering at the event HQ.
